Is your insurance holiday ready?

The end-of the-year is finally here and with that, the time to relax and unwind.
As much as it is a time for celebrations and joy, it's also a time when opportunistic criminals try their luck and unfortunate accidents tend to happen.
Enjoy your holiday, but make sure you have all the protection you need in place first!
Check out our top insurance tips for this holiday season:
Review your homeowners' and home contents policies, and ensure that you're covered for things like a fire starting from decorations or the theft of Christmas presents (yes, that happens!). Don't forget to update your home contents policy with the details of any big ticket items bought over this time of the year (new appliances, digital equipment, jewellery etc.)
If you're going away on holiday, check that all your household security features, as outlined in your insurance policy, are working properly before you leave.
Driving to the beach, 'Berg or bush? Increased traffic on the road, fatigued drivers and summer storms can all add to driving risks. Make sure your vehicle accident insurance covers collisions and other hazards associated with long-distance trips.
f your vehicle insurance policy has roadside assistance, check that your route (and therefore the area you're driving through) is covered by your insurer's service providers. Nothing worse than needing roadside help, only to find the closest provider approved by your insurer is located 4 hours away.
Travel insurance is not something many South Africans think about, but if you're travelling beyond our borders by car or plane, it should be top of your pre-holiday to-do list. Short-term travel insurance can cover trip cancellations, delays or lost luggage. Make sure that medical emergencies are also covered, especially for international trips.
By focusing on these short-term policies, you can ensure you're protected against common holiday mishaps, allowing you to enjoy the season stress-free.
